Marxist lawmaker Anura Kumara Dissanayake on Sunday claimed he had won Sri Lanka’s presidential election. “This victory belongs to all of us,” Dissanayake said in an X post.

Sri Lanka will vote to elect the next President on Saturday. While current President Ranil Wickremesinghe is seeking another term in office, he is being challenged by the key Opposition leader Sajith Premadasa.

Women make up more than half of the voters in Sri Lanka, but in Saturday's presidential election, not even one will be on the ballot.
