Veteran Indian off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has gone past Courtney Walsh's tally of 519 wickets in the opening Test against Bangladesh at the Chepauk Stadium in Chennai. The Tamil Nadu-born spinner is now 8th in the highest wicket-takers list and also broke a plethora of other records as India continued to dominate the tourists.

Ashwin and Jadeja were also involved in a 199-run stand on the first day after India were reeling at 144/6 on a seam-friendly pitch

Spin duo of Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja picked the last six wickets in the first session of Day 4 as India defeated Bangladesh by 280 runs in the first Test match in Chennai.

R Ashwin slammed the sixth century of his Test career during the first game of the series against Bangladesh. Ashwin now has as many Test centuries as MS Dhoni. Dhoni hit six centuries in 90 Tests. Ashwin is playing the 101st Test match of his career.
